On 14th December 2014, Julie Atherton became the 5th master to join Musical Theatre Voices for “Show on a Boat” on board Battersea Barge. Alongside Michael Bradley, who is MD on The Lion King, Julie led two workshops with our participants who then joined her in concert that evening to a sold out audience with people standing just to get a ticket!
“Julie’s acting through song workshop was such an amazing chance to see how she would approach a song and I’ve taken so many tips away with me – thanks Musical Theatre Voices! This was the best workshop so far!”
Following the extremely enjoyable chance to perform alongside Kerry Ellis in her first solo tour, Kerry asked us to join her for “West End Women” alongside herself, Joanna Ampil and Ria Jones. We had a great time with Katie Paine (alternate Killer Queen from the West End production of We Will Rock You), who put the participants through an afternoon of harmony-tastic exercises to prepare the choir for West End Women at the New Alexandra Theatre in Birmingham in December 2014.
Here’s some of the feedback:
“Fantastic afternoon with @mtvoicesUK thanks @KatiePaine1 I learned loads!”
“Amazing night, I loved every minute!”
“@mtvoicesUK were in fine voice”
In October 2014, Musical Theatre Voices took a choir to sing with Kerry Ellis in her UK Tour at the Playhouse in Harlow. Our choir had a rehearsal at Pineapple Studios, London with Lucy van Gasse (standby Glinda in the West End production of Wicked).
They also had a rehearsal before the performance with Craig Adams and the opportunity to meet Kerry Ellis.
In August 2014, Musical Theatre Voices produced Oliver Tompsett in Concert at the Crescent Theatre, Birmingham. Our participants spent two days working with three exceptional performers: CiCi Howells (Threepenny Opera, Saturday Night Fever), Lucy van Gasse (standby Glinda in the West End production of Wicked) and of course Oliver Tompsett himself (We Will Rock You/Rock of Ages/Wicked).
Over the two days, participants had intensive vocal and stage workshops and then performed alongside Oliver and Lucy on the Sunday evening, to a packed house of friends and fans.
Look what participants had to say: “Absolutely a dream come true”, “Thanks @mtvoicesuk for the most amazing weekend ever”, “So excited to do the next project! October can’t come soon enough!”
The audience enjoyed it too: “Fab show from @Ozziology, @lucyvangasse and @mtvoicesuk last night. Well done all, much to be proud of” and “Great show tonight. Well worth 200 mile round trip”
